For gardeners, the holidays come at just the right time in the gardening seasoning. As our beloved gardens are going to sleep, the holidays are the perfect distraction from lamenting over a season gone by.
However sad it is to see our beautiful blooms fade, it’s equally uplifting to have a little break from our arduous work and embark on a change of pace for a season.
For me, it’s the Advent season that brings comfort and gently prompts me to rest and slow down. The familiar rituals of spiritual reflection and anticipation always give me so much hope this time of year. It also puts me in a mood of gratitude and giving.
Luckily, there are plenty of good things out there that can remind us of our lovely gardens as we live in the quiet of winter. I’ve collected a list of classic floral inspired gifts, books and useful things we have used on the farm that will not only delight you but will make great gifts for the gardeners and flower lovers in your life.
Read on for a holiday gift guide for gardeners and flower lovers, plus a wish list of my own!

On My Wish list
I’ve been on the hunt for a simple, yet elegant vessel for my more refined floral designs. This compote vessel is exactly what I’m looking for!
Over the past few years, I’ve been learning to paint watercolors and of course, florals are my favorite subject. I was introduced to Helen Dealtry’s phenomenal work through her instructional tv show Art in Bloom. I’ve watched every episode dozens of times. I would love to have one of her original pieces of art someday, especially this one right now. She also offers reproductions of prints and gifts in her online shop.
My gardening journey began with roses and since our move to the farm three years ago, I’m having to rebuild my rose collection. This rose has been on my wish list for years. I’ll be honest, every single one of his roses would be heartily welcomed into my garden. I’m obsessed.
Do you ever have a professional crush? I’m enamored by the work of Felicia Alvarez of Menagerie Farm and Flowers and the amazing business she has built around garden roses. She recently published her own book about her roses and I can’t wait to read it someday.
Earlier I mentioned my appreciation for the rhythms of the Advent season. This gardener had the clever idea of making an indoor Advent garden to honor the season and I’m so intrigued by it. She further developed this practice into a year-round curiosity and writes about it in this interesting book.
Well, that's it for this list. I sincerely hope this list has sparked some wish list envy of your own and has given you some great gift ideas for loved ones!
